We are now looking for Backend Engineer(s), with different backgrounds, to help us build our core components and services, as well as to contribute to evolving the architecture.
You will join our India organisation, previously known as Lookout Life, that was united with F-Secure through a business acquisition in July 2026 (read more here). Our fairly small backend team is responsible for building and maintaining several of the services powering our various applications with a user base of millions. Our systems are built in Scala, widely utilizing AWS, and developed with DevOps/SRE mindset, CI/CD, self-healing, elasticity and all that jazz. How often is there a chance to build big scale back–end systems while knowing they make a difference – securing digital moments that consumers, like you and me, experience online?
This role is located in Bengaluru, however our team works almost fully remote, except for team days that will be agreed upon separately.
Key Responsibilities
• Participating in designing, building and maintaining new backend services providing high-performance, high-availability APIs to frontend developers, mobile client teams, external partners. Although this role is focused on backend services, you'll also get to play with frontend code, client code and other cool services.
• Discovering and creating new and extend existing services in our large scale microservices and SOA architecture
• Conducting unit, functional, integration, and other forms of automated testing
• Creating documentation to enable self-service
• Internal customer outreach, advocacy, and support
And The Tech Stack, You’ll Be Using
• AWS, Java & Scala
What are we looking for?
• Academic background in engineering, preferably in software/computer engineering
• 6+ years of work experience in designing, building and operating large-scale distributed systems in Amazon Web Services. Work experience in a similar product or SaaS company is seen a benefit.
• Proficient programming skills in Java. In addition, you’ve are not unfamiliar with exploring and learning new technologies.
• Experience implementing RESTful services with APIs in scalable cloud environment.
• Skilled at troubleshooting – you appreciate the value of testing and get a kick out of resolving even the trickiest of issues, and take the initiative to pitch in and help as issues arise
• Interest in DevOps and agile working methods
• Our organisation language is English, so we expect you to have full professional proficiency in English and enjoy a multicultural working environment.
• You are able to work in a hybrid model and occasionally (few days a month) visit our office in Bengaluru.
You get bonus points, if you have experience & knowledge in:
• Git, Jenkins, Jira,
• Containers and AWS deployment pipelines
• Functional Design patterns
• Kafka (or other message bus or distributed log infrastructure)
• NoSQL and/or SQL databases
