Job Description
For every project, we are provided stamped and sealed structural engineering drawings along with architectural drawings. Our responsibility is to interpret those drawings and convert them into detailed, fabrication-ready shop drawings that go directly to our shop floor for production.
Accuracy and coordination are critical in this role.
Primary Responsibilities (Shop Drawings)
Prepare fabrication-ready shop drawings using AutoCAD (or similar)
Interpret structural and architectural drawing sets independently
Detail beams, columns, base plates, connections, railings, and misc. steel
Apply weld symbols, bolt callouts, tolerances, and member sizing accurately
Complete material take-offs
Track drawing revisions and coordinate with shop/field teams
Secondary Responsibilities (Office Support)
Prepare and issue invoices
Track accounts receivable
Assist with payroll support
Basic bookkeeping
Maintain organized project documentation
Communicate with suppliers and clients as required
Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years AutoCAD experience in a production environment
Experience preparing shop drawings (structural steel preferred)
Ability to read structural drawings independently
Strong attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Experience in a fabrication or construction environment preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Calgary, AB
