Job Description
Work with the Clinical Lead Colposcopist and wider team in colposcopy to support the development and delivery of the cervical screening service in accordance with NHS England Service specifications.
Responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of Specialist Gynaecology Outpatient department on a day-to-day basis.
Provide senior clinical leadership, expertise, advice, and support to the nursing and wider multi-professional team to facilitate the effective delivery of care to patients at all times.
The post holder must have extensive theoretical & practical experience of the clinical skills required to run independent nurse led clinics.
The post holder will provide clinical and professional advice at Directorate/ Divisional and Trust level.
The post holder will participate in the training of colleagues.
The post holder will take full responsibility for the effective running of the
colposcopy service and delivery of integrated care to women.
• The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge of the NHS cervical screening programme, gynecology and health promotion. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all activities within the Colposcopy service working collaboratively with and alongside the colposcopy team.
• The post holder will work in partnership with the Colposcopy lead consultant and the Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology to deliver the clinical objectives of the Colposcopy and Gynaecology service.
• The post holder will be accredited experienced nurse colposcopist and act as an autonomous practitioner in undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic clinic sessions, taking responsibility and accountability for appropriate clinical management and care programmes. The post holder is to work closely with the Matron for Gynaecology and share responsibility for the standards and evaluation of training and supervision of nursing staff within the service.
• The post holder will participate in the collaborative management of the
Colposcopy service within the Gynaecology Service and is recognised as a key member of the senior nursing management team.
