Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
The role sits within our Enterprise Investments Team (which is part of the wider Finance function), where you would be seen as a trusted advisor for the Bank, providing analytics and insights to help execute on the Bank's strategy in the most efficient, cost-effective way possible. This is a 12month fixed-term opportunity.
What are some of the key focus areas for the person in this role?
You'll play a pivotal role in managing relationships between the Finance Partners and the Project Investment Community, providing financial support and advice to ensure successful delivery of projects, maximising outcomes of the investment spend while maintaining strict financial governance of this spend.
There will also be a focus on consolidation, reporting, planning and forecasting of BNZ's projects and investments, fixed assets and depreciation, according to the Finance team's timetable, and you'll own, facilitate and manage the month end forecast and planning processes.
You will also support the Divisional CFO, Finance Partners and Business Leaders with initiatives, analysis and insights required to provide value to the business and finance, and provide training to finance and project management staff on aspects of accounting for projects, as required.

We can truly say that no two days are the same, as you'll have the opportunity to be involved in projects that will help the bank move towards achieving its strategic ambition, and deal with a wide range of stakeholders from different business units across the bank, where you'll get to know the insights on all the exciting new things the bank is investing in and building.
What specific skills would be beneficial?
We are looking for a proactive and experienced finance professional with a strong stakeholder management and communication skills ideally with exposure to a project environment. Banking experience would be great but not essential. This is also a great opportunity for someone with experience from a complex organisation looking to change industries.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
Although you will have the technical experience, you will also be someone that enjoys a challenge and solving problems, and doesn't just accept how things are done, instead looks for ways to improve and simplify.
You will also be an excellent communicator, with the ability to understand and convey complex issues/data for others to comprehend, along with strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to approach and follow up with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
