About the Branch
The Corporate Branch is responsible for delivering enabling services that support the effective and efficient operation of the agency and facilitates the agency’s compliance with legislation, policies, and guidelines as a non-corporate Commonwealth entity.

The branch complements the scheme-focus of other agency divisions by facilitating stakeholder engagement and communications. In addition, the branch supports efficient resource management and corporate accountability through functions such as financial management, performance reporting, parliamentary services, procurement, security, property management and human resource management.

About the Section
The Stakeholder Engagement section was established following a recent restructure of the communications function to strengthen the agency’s external-facing capabilities and deepen stakeholder insight and impact. The section comprises four integrated teams:

Contact Centre
Media
Events and Conferences
Stakeholder Engagement
As the agency’s primary front door for external enquiries and engagements, the section models a professional, informed and service oriented approach. It works collaboratively and with a solutions mindset to address complex issues, provide clear guidance and create positive stakeholder experiences.

Partnering closely with the Communications section and the broader agency, the Stakeholder Engagement section designs and delivers informed, thoughtful, strategic and contemporary engagement opportunities.

Our focus is on high quality interactions and measurable outcomes that support the achievement of agency priorities and strengthen trust with our stakeholders.

The section oversees engagements that inform stakeholders about current programs with the potential future possibility of creating meaningful two way dialogue. It establishes a whole of section intelligence capability to systematically collect, analyse and share insights from all teams, building a clear view of the external landscape that influences the agency’s work. Using this evidence, it adds value by providing strategic direction, evidence based advice on opportunities, risks and stakeholder impacts.

Role Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Communications and Events Officer actively engages with internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships, manage the agency’s presence at externally hosted events, and coordinate agency-hosted events.

The role requires high levels of self-direction, proactivity and problem-solving skills to manage projects and bodies of work with leadership, diplomacy, and confidence from end-to-end.

Duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

Plan, coordinate and deliver internal and external events and conferences, supporting agency priorities and contributing to effective stakeholder engagement.
Manage the agency’s annual events calendar, ensuring timely planning, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
Manage event logistics, collateral, procurement, records, stakeholders and budgets while ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Lead regular meetings with internal clients to support the successful delivery of a range of events, providing guidance and maintaining oversight of key activities and their associated records and files.
Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring events are delivered to a high standard.
Build and maintain strategic relationships across the agency and with external partners to enhance collaboration and event outcomes.
Undertake research with internal stakeholders to understand issues.
Lead post-event evaluation and reporting processes, leveraging insights to inform future engagement strategies.
Contribute to the agency’s broader stakeholder strategy by integrating event intelligence and feedback into engagement planning.
Work independently, leading projects, with limited direction within established priorities, practices, and processes to deliver quality outcomes.
Manage competing priorities, deadlines and requests while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
The ideal candidate will have:

Tertiary qualifications in communications or a relevant field are highly regarded or an equivalent combination of training and experience in communications.
Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation and collaboration that will support the cultivation of productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent written communication skills and the capacity to write engagingly and advise on visual and creative elements.
Excellent time management and problem solving skills, with the ability to take initiative, work independently and take ownership of tasks and projects and work as part of a team.
Flexibility and resilience to achieve results in a dynamic work environment.
Willingness to learn and ability to take on constructive feedback to continuously develop.
Strong project management and administrative skills to achieve work goals and to meet planned targets, deadlines, and commitments with minimal supervision.
Solution-oriented mindset and proven ability to address challenges and solve problems.
