We consider flexibility first from a starting position of ‘how can we make this work?’ and consider individual circumstances and operational requirements in making genuine attempts to establish mutually beneficial arrangements. Please reach out to the contact officer if you would like to explore what flexibility might look like for you, such as part time work, variable start and finish times or working from home.

Who we are

Australian Government Consulting (AGC) is a new Australian Public Service (APS) initiative to deliver strategic management consultancy projects in-house. Situated within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, we work in partnership with APS agencies on a wide range of high-profile issues that make a real difference to the wellbeing of Australians.

We use proven consulting methods to deliver:
Strategic policy advice
Organisational transformation
Targeted, high-impact workshops

In addition to delivering high-quality consulting projects, our project teams are helping to shape AGC – and reshape the APS. Our vision is for AGC to be part of an efficient, highly capable and trusted APS that confidently delivers core work, makes the most of its own expertise, and reinvests in its capability, while selectively engaging external consultants where necessary.

To find out more about working here, contact Joseph Julian at [email protected] or (02) 6228 6360. We will also be holding virtual information sessions for prospective candidates, see here for details.

Our offer to you:

At AGC, we offer:
The opportunity to join a dynamic, high-performing team that provides rapid career development opportunities and actively supports your capability development.
The opportunity to work on fast-paced projects across a wide range of APS portfolios and functions, using your consulting skills to deliver meaningful impact for your clients and long-term public value
A chance to shape and lead the future of the Australian Government’s in-house consulting function
Generous and flexible conditions, including 15.4% superannuation in addition to base salary, allowances, salary sacrifice, study assistance, shut down leave, and relocation assistance for those outside of Canberra. Read more here or see the PM&C Enterprise Agreement 2026-2027 for more detail.
