Job Description
As a Senior Creative Writer at MediaWorks, you’ll craft ideas that cut through the clutter to connect and deliver results for our advertising clients across radio, digital and beyond.
The Opportunity
Our fantastic Creative Writers are at the heart of our commercial storytelling. Based in Wellington and reporting into the Regional Creative Manager, you’ll partner closely with internal teams and clients to uncover what really matters. Then translate that into compelling, results-driven content.
From scripting standout radio ads to integrated campaigns, you’ll bring concepts to life with clarity, creativity, and precision (especially when some scripts are only 7 seconds!)
What You’ll Do
Develop strong, insight-led ideas and produce compelling, customer-centric content across multiple channels
Turn briefs into standout scripts and engaging campaigns that deliver results
Attend regular creative review sessions (minimum five per month) to collaborate, refine, and elevate work
Write advertising and promotional copy, including selecting music beds, jingles, and production elements
Deliver all assigned work to a high standard, within deadlines (typically within three working days of brief receipt) ensuring all material is approved by clients prior to airing.
Ensure compliance with advertising standards, broadcasting regulations, and company policies
Participate in voice sessions and actively support the brands you work across, such as The Breeze, More FM, Channel X, Mai FM, and The Edge
Your Skills and Experiences
You bring around three years or more of experience in a creative, media, or commercial writing environment, with exceptional writing skills and the ability to flex your tone, style, and format to suit different platforms and audiences. You have a strong understanding of audience behaviour and what drives engagement, combining creativity with commercial thinking to deliver ideas that not only sound great but perform. With strong attention to detail, impeccable spelling and grammar, you are confident in navigating broadcasting standards, advertising codes, and legal considerations.
You’re naturally curious, always asking questions, digging deeper, and looking for effective solutions. Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, you handle ambiguity well and can shift gears when priorities change. Just as importantly, you’re a collaborative team player—someone who contributes ideas, constructively challenges thinking, and helps lift the performance of those around you :)
