Job Summary:
We require an experienced SQL Server DBA to join our existing team that is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the successful candidate will be working in a fast paced and rapidly changing multi region environment.
Responsibilites:
• Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
• Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers and other DBAs with query tuning and schema refinement.
• Provide support for critical production systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities.
• Share technical expertise with existing team members.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a rotation.
Skills:
Essential
• 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required (versions 2012 through 2026)
• Experience in Azure SQL and the Azure platform
• Experience with performance tuning and optimisation using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• Implementation and management of Database Mirroring, SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCIs) and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
• Experience of working with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
• Previous experience of using SQL Server on VMWare
• Ability to organize and plan work independently
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to multi-task and switch effectively between different activities
• Working with Vendor supplied databases
Desirable
• Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory and Failover Clustering
• Experience working with SQL Sentry Performance Advisor
• Experience of UNIT4 Agresso ERP System
• Azure DevOps, GitHub, SQL Server Data Tools
• Data Gateways, Power BI
• PowerShell
Qualifications:
• Ideally one of MCITP, MCSA, MCSE in SQL Server 2012 upwards
• ITIL and Agile practices
