This role is part of the International Regulatory Reporting Crew where we deliver cutting-edge technology solutions allowing the Bank to comply with regulatory reporting and disclosure obligations across the Banks international jurisdictions

As a Senior Engineer you’ll be an integral member of our Engineering practice. Your role will be to work with the team and business bringing your full-cycle (design, build, test and operate) expertise to create and operate a new robust, scalable and secure data platform

We are seeking an outstanding Senior Engineer to join our team and help shape the reporting solutions that we are building

Key Responsibilities:

Drive the design, development and operations of highly reliable and scalable data pipelines and data platforms with comprehensive test coverage.

Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse and translate requirements to technical implementation.

Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement within the team and in delivery of products.

Provide mentoring and technical assistance to other members of the team, including more junior Data Engineers.

Produce high quality, sustainable data solutions to meet business requirements, leveraging approved delivery frameworks and by applying industry best practice.

Provide technical governance of product delivery to ensure successful delivery and adoption.

Deliver data engineering solutions aligned to core concepts of data design, preparation, transformation, and load.

Build and implement data pipelines in distributed data platforms including warehouses, databases, data lakes and cloud lake houses to enable data predictions and models, and reporting and visualisation analysis via data integration tools and frameworks.

Contribute to domain planning, providing guidance to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned to engineering direction and strategy.

Collaborate, co-create and contribute to existing Data Engineering practices in the team.

Data security and data management including metadata and lineage

Skills Required:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

Proven experience as a data engineer or similar role

Strong analytical, problem solving, documentation and communication skills with a ‘can-do’ attitude to manage complexity and changing priorities

Sound understanding of data modelling concepts (e.g. conceptual/logical/physical modelling)

Strong knowledge of SQL for writing, optimizing, and debugging queries.

Familiarity with database design, indexing, and normalization principles.

Proficiency in and deep understanding and experience of Cloud based infrastructure and services preferably AWS especially related to data storage and processing such as S3, RDS, Redshift,Iceberg and Glue

Familiarity and/or working knowledge with Python/Spark programming languages

Working knowledge and experience in BI or Data warehousing / ETL using tools like Glue, EMR or Abinitio

Experience in test automation and using test management tools like JIRA

Familiarity with visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or QuickSight.

Strong knowledge and experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity, Artifactory or Octopus

Familiarity and experience with Agile processes

Knowledge and experience with DevSecOps practices and tools

Good automation skills in areas such as testing, data ingestion, APIs, file transfers

Associate level cloud certification in data engineering

Good understanding of AI especially in the areas of data processing and analytics

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
