Job Purpose
The Successful candidate will be a part of the Global MSSQL DBA team with focus on Production Support, performance, tuning, design, deployment, and support of Microsoft SQL Servers in a fast paced and dynamic environment.This role requires a technology enthusiast with strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills. You will be responsible for ensuring that the SQL Database is performant, secure, and stable. You will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems across the IT architecture. This role will help design and implement future database and application solution strategy, technical design, architecture, and support for carrying out the implementation of current firm strategies.
Responsibilities
The role covers DBA tasks, administrative functions, change and release management processes. You will be responsible for the change management process of the DBA software development and implementations.
Provide production support for database environment in accordance with agreed service levels, standards, and processes
Proactively manage and monitor the database environment to minimize business disruption and identify and drive initiatives to improve the quality and effectiveness of the database services
Work closely with infrastructure personnel, providing technical input to application design of solutions for business and infrastructure projects
Assist in the evaluation, planning and delivery of the migration and upgrade of existing database applications
Build and Implement Database infrastructure automation, Database-as-a-Service
Enhance and standardise internal toolsets, establish database engineering and certification framework
Ensure that assigned Global MSSQL DBA Team incidents are managed effectively, and root-cause problem analysis is undertaken where appropriate to reduce the number and severity of future operational incidents
Participate in knowledge transfer with other Global MSSQL DBA Team members to improve the effectiveness of whole team
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
7+ years of experience in administering databases on Windows Platforms
5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server
3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Replication
3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Always On
3+ years of experience in supporting 10 TB+ database systems
Experience with MS SQL production support is essential. The candidate should be motivated, hands on, sensitive to risks and controls, work well under pressure and possess solid problem analysis/troubleshooting/design/performance & tuning skills
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Project management / time management skills
Solid experience in PowerShell and other windows automation tools & software
Full SDLC knowledge utilizing JIRA, Version Control and deployment tools (e.g. Jenkins).
Demonstrable experience in Database Administration in MS SQL Server 2008R, 2012/2014/2016/2026
Demonstrable Always On design, implementation, and support skills
Demonstrable Replication design, implementation, and support skills
Demonstrable experience in support MS SQL Server on MS Windows Clustering, HA
Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization
Experience in troubleshooting SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
Experience in backup/restore, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring and Replication
Solid knowledge of index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching, statistics
Proficient with windows server, security delegation, storage components (SAN and NAS)
Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology, etc.)
Schedule
This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2days per week.
