Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated research and development engineer to join our growing team at Wick. In this role, you will lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of automatic tyre deflation and inflation systems for axles in the heavy commercial vehicle industry. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electronic, and automotive systems, as well as a creative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
• Develop, design, and test automatic tyre inflation and deflation systems for heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and buses.
• Conduct research on industry best practices, global standards, and emerging technologies related to tyre pressure management.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and production to ensure seamless product development.
• Create prototypes and iterate based on testing results, customer feedback, and performance assessments.
• Perform feasibility studies, simulations, and analysis to validate concepts and designs.
• Troubleshoot issues during development, installation, and after-market testing phases.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements in product design.
• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source high-quality components and materials for the systems.
• Document all phases of R&D activities, including design notes, technical drawings, test results, and analysis.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in R&D, preferably in the automotive or heavy commercial vehicle sector.
• Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, particularly in relation to tyre management.
• Experience in prototyping, CAD design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar), and system testing.
• Knowledge of automotive safety standards, Indian road conditions, and industry regulations is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting mechanical/electronic systems.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with team members, suppliers, and customers.
