Location: Melbourne, Victoria

At Tennis Australia, we’re creating a more playful world through tennis – for everyone.

From grassroots to Grand Slams, tennis brings people together, inspires communities, and builds champions on and off the court.

We’re a team of imaginative and passionate people who believe in the power of sport to make a difference. If you're ready to help us serve up real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re committed to reflecting the communities we work and play in. We strongly encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQI+ individuals, people with disability, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

About the role

Join AO Labs, the creative and technical heart of Tennis Australia, where cutting-edge digital experiences are built to support elite players, coaches, broadcasters, and operational teams. We're looking for a Senior Digital Experience Engineer to design and deliver visually rich, interactive applications like CoachesBox, Tournament IQ, TennisTube, and more.

From crafting real-time data visualisations to building custom web-based media players, your work will sit at the intersection of sport, data, and user-centred design—helping the Australian Open and other events lead the world in tennis tech.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Maintain and improve existing TypeScript + Next.js apps, and develop new web and mobile applications using modern frameworks

Create real-time data visualisations and access live data feeds

Build interactive, canvas-heavy web apps for dynamic experiences

Develop custom web-based media players for broadcast and performance analysis

Work within the AWS ecosystem, using tools like Lambda, Cognito, DynamoDB

Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Vercel deployments

Integrate secure authentication systems using JWT and AWS Cognito

Partner closely with data engineers and stakeholders to create seamless end-user interfaces

About you

You bring a can-do attitude, resilience, and thrive in fast-paced, high-performing environments. You’re proactive, adaptable, and ability to deliver high-impact digital experiences under tight deadlines.

You're not just technically strong — you're user-focused. With proven experience in building modern web and mobile applications, you have a particular flair for interactive design, and real-time data visualisation. You enjoy turning complex problems into seamless user experiences and are equally comfortable diving into code as you are collaborating with designers, data engineers, and product stakeholders.

If you're someone who blends creative thinking with technical excellence — and loves being part of a team that’s redefining what’s possible in sport and tech — we’d love to meet you.

To be successful in this role you will:

Proficient in TypeScript, Next.js, React, and modern frontend frameworks

Hands-on experience with real-time data handling and data visualisation

Strong understanding of AWS services, serverless architectures, and CI/CD workflows

Experience with authentication protocols and security best practices

Demonstrated ability to build interactive, media-rich web interfaces

Experience using Figma, Photoshop, and developing dashboards for data storytelling is desirable

Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check

Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia

What’s to love?

Career development with a range of formal education and on the job training opportunities

Tickets to the Australian Open plus Superbox tickets to events at Rod Laver & Melbourne Arena

Monthly health & wellbeing activities with access to CorePlus Pilates

Onsite gym, tennis facilities & free onsite car parking

Salary packaging & a range of discounts from our sponsorship partners

Attractive leave benefits - with up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave for all primary caregivers and Sorry Business and Ceremonial Leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees

We are proud to be recognised as an employer of choice for women by WORK180

If you're a full-stack technologist with a designer’s eye and a love of fast-paced, high-impact environments—this is your opportunity to shape the future of tennis.
