Job Summary: The Senior Director, Legal, will serve as a versatile generalist in Risepoint’s Legal Department with a primary focus on handling complex commercial contract negotiations and managing a wide range of organizational matters from employment to regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:

Commercial:
• Manage responses to requests for proposal with dedicated cross-functional team
• Lead customer contract negotiations with public and private-sector customers globally
• Manage preparation of contract amendments and addendums to existing master services agreements
• Manage contract disputes
• Maintain form master services agreement and other templates
• Manage review and negotiation of vendor contracts

Operational, Employment, Privacy, and Compliance:
• Ensure employment law compliance globally
• Maintain HR form documents, employee handbook, and policies
• Manage required compliance training
• Manage employment disputes
• Ascertain and translate legal requirements for business functions to maintain globally compliant with:
• privacy laws (FERPA and GDPR) as well as Diversity, Inclusion and Equity topics
• consumer protection, false advertising, and marketing laws
• higher education regulations, such as the ban on incentive compensation
• specific laws relevant to our business, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act
• Monitor state specific compliance requirements
• Maintain all relevant training materials

Team Leadership:

Set the tone in creating a culture of compliance across functions

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Partner with senior leadership across functions to educate on relevant legal developments and align legal objectives with business objectives
• Present to board, investors, and executive team on relevant matters
• Engage with and manage outside counsel globally within budget mandates

Operational Excellence:
• Solve problems with an eye towards creating scalable and repeatable best-practice processes, not as one-offs
• Be comfortable operating in a growing organization of scale and accustomed to consistently producing high-quality work product within only a few iterations and under time constraints

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Juris Doctor, licensed to practice law and admitted to a bar in the United States
• Minimum of 7 years of experience of practicing law with at least 4 years at a large law firm or a large in-house legal department
• No specific subject matter expertise is required, but a background in commercial transactions and commercial litigation and familiarity with navigating regulated industries will be preferred
