The Opportunity
QES is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) to support continued growth across industrial projects.
This is a hands-on, field-oriented role combining:
Electrical system design
Site inspections and commissioning
Project management
Client-facing engineering delivery
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in industrial electrical systems, along with the ability to work across multidisciplinary environments.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering
Design and review medium and low voltage electrical systems, including:
Power distribution systems
Cabling and grounding systems
Motor control centers (MCCs)
Control wiring and instrumentation interfaces
Prepare electrical specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
Develop electrical supply and installation cost estimates
Conduct industrial electrical site surveys
Participate in or support energy audits
Field Work & Commissioning
Perform on-site inspection, review, and commissioning of industrial electrical installations
Verify installations for code compliance, safety, and performance
Troubleshoot issues during construction and startup phases
Interface with contractors, vendors, and inspection authorities
Project & Technical Leadership
Support Operations Manager in engineering quality oversight and team coordination
Review and seal engineering documents (P.Eng.)
Lead or support project management for industrial installations
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, process, controls)
Provide value engineering and technical problem-solving
Manage project schedules, deliverables, and client expectations
Qualifications Required
Canadian P.Eng. designation (mandatory)
10+ years relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering
Strong experience with:
Medium/low voltage systems
Motor control and industrial power systems
Electrical installations and commissioning
Exceptional English writing and communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel internationally
Strong Assets
U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) designation
Experience with:
Industrial site surveys and field investigations
Energy audits and efficiency studies
Project management of industrial electrical installations
Familiarity with mechanical systems (HVAC, refrigeration, process systems)
Proficiency in:
AutoCAD (2D/3D) (beneficial but not required)
Revit or similar tools

Position Details
Full-time (40 hours/week)
Typical schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Remote initially, with potential transition to hybrid/in-person
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Pay: $75,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
