As we continue to expand our offerings and push the boundaries of pet care innovation, we're looking for a seasoned Senior Embedded Systems Engineer who are excited to embark on a startup journey.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Lead Embedded Systems Development:
• Take ownership of the entire embedded systems development lifecycle, from concept to deployment in collaboration with the CTO.
• Architect, design, and implement firmware for our IoT and animal healthcare devices using Embedded C and CPUs like Arm-cortex M4
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to define system requirements, select components, and optimise performance.
• Build robust IoT security systems for multiple products.
• Firmware Development & Optimization:
• Write efficient, well-structured, and maintainable firmware code.
• Implement robust error handling and debugging mechanisms.
• Optimise firmware for resource-constrained embedded systems, ensuring low power consumption and real-time responsiveness.
• Sensor Integration and Communication:
• Interface with a wide range of sensors, including accelerometers, temperature sensors, GPS modules, and other VSM sensors.
• Implement communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LoRa for data transmission and device connectivity.
• Use various communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, PWM, PDM, etc
• IoT Ecosystem Development:
• Work with IoT platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP-IDF, NRF-SDK, VS Code to build prototypes, proof-of-concepts and market ready products
• Develop and maintain device drivers and firmware libraries.
• Integrate devices with cloud platforms for data storage and analysis.
• Collaboration & Mentorship:
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including veterinarians, researchers, and software engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and best practices.
Requirements:
• Proven Experience:
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems development, with a focus on firmware programming.
• Deep understanding of microprocessor architectures, peripherals, and communication protocols.
• Required Technical Skills:
• Expertise in ESP-IDF and RTOS, C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of programming concepts like Interrupts, FIFO, MCU, RTOS and best programming practices
• Experience with IoT development platforms ESP-IDF
• version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Past experience in concepts like AWS IoT Core and TinyML for Edge computing and Data transfer
• Familiarity with reading data sheets and understanding schematics
• Good knowledge of electronics basics including applications of various electronic concepts
• Additional Technical Skills :
• Familiarity with platforms like NRF-SDK or RoX SDK etc
• Past experience in working with products that have entered the market
• Basic understanding of PCB development and SMD component soldering is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Passion for learning new technologies and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
Additional Qualifications :
• Experience working with small and multi-disciplinary teams is a plus
• Basic experience working with nRF or Renasas systems and SDKs
• Experience working in a fast paced environment - like startups
• A genuine love for animals and a desire to make a positive impact in their lives
• Upto 2 strong references or LORs either from previous employers or professors.
