Role Description
You will be joining the Architecture Tooling team within Group Architecture (GA) Technology as an Engineer. Architecture Tooling is accountable for the delivery of tools supporting architecture-related tasks (i.e. modelling, re-use item cataloguing and discovery, enterprise architecture information management, etc), with a portfolio of 6 major applications with thousands of users bank-wide. As an engineering lead, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical direction to the GA development group.

Your key responsibilities:
• Contribute to the creation, design and delivery of tooling supporting both a set of bank-wide, domain-aligned Architecture functions, as well as a central Enterprise Architecture group
• Providing guidance, assisting development and advising teams using Service and Application Programming Interface (API) based architectures.
• Mentoring colleagues and providing technical guidance across the team
• Creating a strong network of contacts with associated technology teams from development, infrastructure and production to collaborate on evolving the concepts, approach and software solutions in this space
Your skills and experience:
• Previous development experience using modern Integrated Development Environments (IDE), CI/CD, Test Driven Development (TDD) and Java/Scala/Node.JS.
• Working knowledge of Representational State Transfer (REST), Event-based architectures and messaging schemes (pub/sub, Kafka, etc), databases (preferably Postgres), HTML5/Javascript and associated frameworks and Software Delivery Life Cycle best practices and design
• Conceptual knowledge of API gateway, Service Mesh, including Envoy, Authorization and Authentication schemes like Oauth, TLS and mTLS, the OpenAPI and AsyncAPI standards, DNS, Load Balancing, Serverless, Auto-scaling, K8s and Docker, with hands-on experience a definite plus
• Ability to operate in a high-pressure, fluid environment, accommodating priority changes and communicating clearly and openly with the management team.
• Capability to interact successfully in a virtual, multi-vendor and multi-cultural environment, with special emphasis on the ability to developing and nurturing junior colleagues and providing thought and technical leadership across the team
