What is the Senior Engineer - Systems Software group responsible for?
The Senior Engineer generally works on infrastructure solutions for significant business and IT projects. This role works on complex problems and projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and the application of creative solutions.
This role is a ‘Senior Engineer’ role in ‘Tools - Engineering and Operations’ team, which provides Enterprise Monitoring, Conversational AI, Automation and Capacity Planning services to all application and infrastructure teams within Franklin Technology.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of Senior Engineer - Systems Software?
Develop, Design and Deliver comprehensive monitoring solution (using Zabbix, ELK, SCOM, Datadog monitoring tools) for new applications as well as identifying existing gap within the existing monitoring and enhancing it further. Supporting different IT Infrastructure including servers, storage, backups, Network etc.
Should be able to help build and expand SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) culture and support application teams to improve on the regular issues and uptime of the applications.
Develop, Design and Deliver automation solutions for the organization using the data center, application automation and configuration management tools (like Truesight Server Automation, Saltstack etc). Should be able to support DevOps tools and processes using Jenkins and other config management and deployment tools.
Should be able to define and design 3-5 year long terms strategy in the respective areas keeping AI, AIOps and Machine learning in the roadmap.
Helping in optimizing the current IT Infrastructure and moving the on prem apps to cloud and other container platforms.
Perform integration with enterprise tools and applications to enable self-service, automation, optimization, self-healing and enhanced digital and customer experience.
Perform root cause analysis and remediation activities for various incidents, applications and infrastructure issues.
Deliver Operational tasks assigned within pre-defined SLAs.
Should be innovative and able to influence teams to take right decision and approach.
Should be able to coordinate with other technology teams for various organizational level tasks and initiatives.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
Qualification
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
11-18 years related experience.
Required Skills
Mandatory skills - Excellent skills in Python / php programming languages
Mandatory skills - Should have Tools Administration and Support experience – Any one or two of the tools either in Server Automation / Network Automation, Monitoring , Conversational AI or Container Platforms (Avaamo/ Amelia/TrueSight Server Automation/Saltstack/Kubernetes/OpenShift/ Zabbix/ ELK/ Splunk/Network Automation)
Should be good in Unix shell scripting or PowerShell scripting
Open to learn new tools and technologies, be flexible with work timings.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as strong logical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Automation Tools knowledge like BMC TrueSight Server Automation, Salt stack (good to have skill)
Infrastructure platform support for Container apps (Kubernetes, OpenShift) , Conversational AI platforms like Avaamo, Amelia etc. (good to have skills)
Public Cloud Experience related to Azure, AWS (good to have) – Designing Cloud Architecture, Application Deployment, DevOps, Monitoring etc.
