We’re looking for a Senior Estimator to join our Major Projects Win Work team, based in Auckland.
With your strong tendering experience in heavy civil construction (transport, water, renewable energy), you’ll be producing accurate cost estimates. On a day-to-day basis, you will lead the preparation of estimates, coordinate procurement inquiries and work with the team on estimate reviews. You’ll be equally comfortable working on your own or leading the estimating team for a major bid.
Your delivery reputation and experience will be second only to your leadership and interpersonal skills. You will be driven by relationships that lead all parties to success.
In addition to the above you will:
Prepare first principles, resource-based cost estimates with identified plant and labour requirements
Compile and produce take-offs for individual trades bill of quantities
Complete project budgets and cost plans
Be part of the leadership team for major bids
Develop an accurate scope of works, verifying work breakdown schedules and bill of quantities
Programme the scope of works as per the construction methodology and assessing duration and productivity
Understand and be confident with project specifications and legal requirements, including quality, safety, environmental and sustainability
Provide input on risk register, tender programme, methodology and clarifications
Complete subcontractor/supply pricing packages, reviewing subcontractor pricing and perform price evaluations
Participate in pre-contract negotiations and tender reviews with senior management
Provide handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team
Key to your success will be your accuracy, your competitive drive and your ability to quickly find solutions in an efficient manner. It is a given that you are a stickler for detail and accuracy.
We’re looking for someone with:
An appropriate tertiary qualification and/or equivalent knowledge
Strong experience in the use of CCS Candy estimation software
A minimum of 10 years estimating experience in heavy civil infrastructure, including leading estimates for projects from $100 million to $500 million in value
Experience in or knowledge of the infrastructure contracting industry and New Zealand market
Familiarity with reviewing NZS3910 and NZS3916 contract conditions
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present work in internal tender reviews to secure approval from management
