Senior Estimator - Waterworks Projects – Houston, Texas
Salary: $130,000 – $160,000
Location: Houston, TX
A leading Waterworks contractor is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their estimating team working out of Houston, TX. This position plays a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for water infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, wastewater infrastructure and pump stations across Texas.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of both traditional bid-build and alternative delivery methods such as CMAR, CMGC, and Progressive Design-Build. This is a great opportunity to join a high-performing team that delivers projects from US$1m - US$500m+ across the state of Texas and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed cost estimates across all scopes of water infrastructure projects.
• Interpret and analyse project plans and specifications.
• Utilize HCSS HeavyBid software to develop and manage comprehensive project estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate material and subcontractor quotations.
• Maintain detailed documentation and current pricing information.
• Collaborate with project teams to support value engineering and risk assessment.
• Mentor junior estimating staff and contribute to proposal preparation.
• Recommend design and construction alternatives based on cost, quality, and availability.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably on waterworks, treatment plans or pump stations.
• Strong knowledge of all major scopes within civil construction.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); Bluebeam Revu experience preferred.
• Proficient with HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
• Experience with project scheduling (CPM) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
The role could suit an Estimator looking to step up into a more Senior role with a leading national contractor or a Senior Estimator from a small regional contractor or sub looking to work on bigger bids.
Salary is between US130k-160k and will be required to work 3 days out of the week in the Houston office.
