Oversee the recruitment process for assigned client groups, collaborating with hiring managers and the Talent team
Establish relationships of trust with clients, leading to being brought in early for a more efficient impact on important actions and decisions
Consult on business issues and coach management to make better people decisions contributing to more effectiveness in their roles
Suggest organizational change capabilities to bring teams together to ensure communication, collaboration and desired results
Give advice/input on the assessment of talent for hiring, promotions and job changes
Partner with managers and Talent Management on manager and employee development solutions
Facilitate people processes with assigned clients including mid/year-end processes, employee survey results, workforce planning, talent assessments, etc
Advise teams and/or individuals within client groups to resolve issues, enable change and optimize performance
Provide People policy guidance and interpretation
Champion and model the desired culture and behavioral norms for the organization
Provide timely and direct feedback to managers, colleagues and employees
Participate in client meetings as part of the team to keep abreast of the business and provide People strategy and organizational updates
Identify the processes, policies or tools that may conflict with desired culture working with team to assess remedies
Use project management rigor and methodology in leading team projects
Collaborate effectively and frequently seek input from others internally or externally in relation to process improvement opportunities
Serve as the executive advisor to the Partner, Educate, Entertain, Party, Socialize (PEEPS) committee, including taking an active and visible role in supporting company social events, team meetings and training programs
Be a subject matter expert as it pertains to California employment regulations
Some travel (about 25%) mostly to visit East Coast People Team or R&D team clients

Our client needs an exceptional HR Business Partner (Director, People Business Partner) to work directly with cross-functional teams and the existing People team to deliver on the promise of great talent and effective policies to support them and to be the sole People Team representative in California.

As the HR Business Partner, your responsibilities will likely include:

Your background will include:
• BA/BS degree in business related discipline, or the equivalent. MBA or MS degree preferred.
• 8+ years well rounded HR Generalist experience, 4+ years’ experience serving in a HR Business Partner capacity. At least 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including experience with smaller fast growth or start-up biopharma firms.
• Demonstrated strength in learning agility and the ability to manage ambiguity.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at conflict resolution, successful at working with and coaching multiple levels of the organization.
• Effective communicator in both verbal and written skills, seeking first to understand then to be understood. Tailor communication to audience appropriately.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Positive attitude, flexible and proactive.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to present information at multiple levels of the company, providing most relevant and important points in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong Microsoft Office 365 applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). Preferred working knowledge in Dayforce, Workday and or other HR technology.
