Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer.
This is a long-term contract role for 12 months, with the possibility of two 12-month extensions, located at our client’s ACT or NSW premises under a hybrid working arrangement. The hybrid model requires a minimum of two days per week onsite, with the remaining three days working from home. Operational requirements may occasionally necessitate additional onsite attendance.
As The Selected Candidate, You Will
Provide administration and support services for Linux servers, backup infrastructure, and security logging systems.
Ensure server environments are secure, stable, and effectively administered.
Collaborate with stakeholders and vendors to deliver high-quality services that meet client’s requirements.
Support Linux project requirements while maintaining operational stability in existing environments.
Design, implement, maintain, and secure:
Linux instances (~600), including Ubuntu and RHEL (trending towards Ubuntu).
Base services such as virtualisation (VMware), block and file storage (Pure Storage), backup (Cohesity), and index/search (Splunk).
Core services such as DNS (BIND), NTP, SMTP (Postfix), web proxying (Squid and Forcepoint/Websense), and RSA SecurID.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Proven experience administering and supporting Linux server environments, including Ubuntu and RHEL.
Expertise in managing virtualisation (VMware), storage solutions (Pure Storage), and backup systems (Cohesity).
Strong knowledge of DNS (BIND), NTP, SMTP (Postfix), and web proxying tools (Squid, Forcepoint/Websense).
Proficiency in implementing security measures and maintaining operational stability across systems.
It Is Desirable If You Have
Experience with Splunk for indexing and searching.
Familiarity with RSA SecurID or similar security logging systems.
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance.
