Job Description
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tom Welke. I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions Inc and have been recruiting technical talent for over 22 years (it will be 23 in January) and been in the tech space since the 1++0s. Due to this, I am going to be far more focused on 'fit' than anything else. Also, I am a real live human being...so, no bots, no AI... Just a fella watching Top Gear reruns writing a real live job description. The reason I mention this is that I like to add humor and a human touch to my JDs...so, if you see something that makes you chuckle, that was the intent.
Yep, this role is being done remotely...but this does NOT mean that if remote work is your only concern, that you should apply. Please read the JD...I will put, in here, items that are gotta haves....if you don't have those gotta have's, we wont have a fit.
If you are a fan of Tom Peters' you will know a key quote that he has....'Hard is soft, soft is hard'. This means that those 'soft skills' are incredibly important. So, let's dive into those, shall we? Here are some of those soft skill needs for this role:
• The hiring manager for this role is the furthest thing from a 'micro manager'. This also means, however, that you don't need to me micro managed. If you have handled projects, by yourself, from start to finish, we will be on the right track. If you have been on a team of 7-8 developers on all your roles, we probably won't have a fit for this one.
• The hiring manager for this role is results focused. In other words, this is not an environment full of drama... I am abundantly sure there are those reading this JD saying 'there is this individual on our team that always has problems...always has drama...and it effects my ability to deliver'. I hear you...this role is for that person that doesn't bring a lot of drama to the table.
I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders for this role. So, if you are an H1, OPT, EAD, F1, or STEM Visa Holder...or anything other than a US Citizen or Green Card Holder, we will not have a fit for this role.
I can only work with candidates that presently reside in the US for this role....no exceptions.
In addition, I am not working with external vendors for this role. So, if you are an external vendor saying 'I have an ideal candidate', for the love of all that is good and pure, stop....I am not working with external vendors for this role.
Here is what we are seeking:
We are seeking a Senior Integration Engineer with experience with that fun world of requirements gathering, system design & analysis, architecture, design & programming skills. This goes to that point I mentioned before... If you have been that person that completed projects, on your own, from start to finish, we are off to a great start.
You will be working on architecting, designing, developing and implementing integration 'solutions'. That word 'solutions' gets thrown about a lot without much definition. So, allow me to explain. Have you ever heard the quote 'the surgery was a success, but the patient died'. Well that is an example of a solution that, while technically correct, didn't achieve the anticipated outcome. If you can see the 'big picture' of what you are working on, then we will be off to a good start.
Here are some of those nifty responsibilities:
• Work with stakeholders, project managers, and other technical teams with regards to requirements gathering, documentation, process flow diagramming and UAT.
• Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and middleware systems to facilitate data exchange and interoperability between different systems.
• Troubleshooting of performance issues, that weird world of connectivity issues and data transformation errors.
• Review and analyze existing integrations’ effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
• Prepare and present data integration flow diagrams using tools like Lucidchart.
• Work with those important team members in QA, UAT, and integration testing. This will include test case execution when necessary.
• Prepare and package completed software for production deployment.
• Smoke test applications as an integral part of the deployment process.
Here is what we are looking for:
• At least + years or experience with integration development experience in the Microsoft platform. This will need to include C#, Azure Functions, ADF, Data Flows, and SSIS. This is an absolute must have. If you don't have all of these things (C#, Azure Functions, ADF, SSIS) we wont have a fit.
• You have a BS or BA degree from accredited college or university in computer science or related field. This, again, is an absolute gotta have.
• Any experience in the REIT or Commercial Real Estate world would be great to see.
• Experience writing SQL scripts to retrieve, update, and insert data to/from the database. This is an absolute gotta have.
• Experience ADO or other application lifecycle tool. Again, this is a gotta have.
• Experience with Git, Azure Architecture, Object Oriented Programming, and RESTful API. This is, again, an absolute gotta have.
• You can balance multiple projects, manage daily workload, and prioritize tasks. We are seeking that individual that has, on their own, taking on fun stuff like POC's and delivered on those POC's. Again...a gotta have.
