The Covert Online Investigation Team (COLT) is currently seeking a Senior Intelligence Analyst to join their team. As the sole COLT Intelligence Analyst, you will provide tactical, operational and strategic intelligence analysis and outputs to support the New Zealand Police response to targeting online Serious and Organised Crime and Online Child Exploitation. COLT sits within the High-Tech Crime Group, and this role will work adjacent to the Cybercrime Intel Team.
This position would suit an experienced intelligence professional wanting to work in a dynamic operational environment. As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will demonstrate professional curiosity and adaptive approaches to using a range of structured analytic systems, tools and methodologies to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues. You will use your advanced critical thinking and team-focused approach to coach other team members on best practice intelligence tradecraft, supporting team development and foster a positive and productive team culture.
As online offending is often transnational, this role will require you to build effective relationships with both domestic and international law enforcement partners. The position supports both the Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) Team and the Online Child Exploitation Investigations (OCEANZ), based on COLT operational demands. Your engagement in your own professional development will see you grow your knowledge of policing and intelligence. Your willingness to connect to people, and critically and thoughtfully engage with what you find, will enhance your understanding of the required intelligence contribution and ensure positive outcomes.
Key Accountabilities:
Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and apply a wide range of analytical techniques and methods to interpret information and data.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop a high standard of written reports/presentations and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences.
Lead and collaborate on projects and group analysis.
Effectively manage competing priorities, projects and demands to maintain quality outputs under strict timeframes.
Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal, external, domestic and international).
Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems.
Lead by example with a committed, positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development. Contribute positively to team culture.
Assist in leading the development of intelligence people, products, and processes.
Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends in Online Child Exploitation and Organised Crime investigations.
Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in intelligence products/outputs.

Previous experience in online child exploitation and serious and organised crime investigations and/or relevant academic qualifications is desirable
Intelligence experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role.
Successful candidate must reside in Wellington or must be willing to relocate.
Appointment subject to pre-employment psychological assessment, and graduated exposure to Child Exploitation Material.
You may occasionally be required to work outside of set work hours and alternative locations for operational reasons. Shift work may be required to meet operational demand.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $102,808.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
