Experience working in Mixed-Use, Hospitality, and/or Senior Living
The ability to set design direction for junior staff
A varied and flexible aesthetic that meets diverse client needs
Minimum 10 years of related experience
Architectural or Interior Design registration required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign programs
Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents
The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment

Responsibilities
Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team
Assist in management of projects through developing project scope, schedules, job production, quality, and fee management
Lead programming, conceptualization, development, and integration of strategic design solutions
Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials
Document architectural drawings
Assist in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addenda (CCD's), and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list
Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards, and details
Lead all phases of the design process including programming and developing workplace standards
Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching
Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested

The San Francisco office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team.
Working with us, you will:
• Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.
