About The Role
Benefact Group, are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our Gloucester office.
Are you a Java Engineer looking for a new challenge? Do you understand the Scrum Framework? Are you someone that understands the delivery lifecycle?
If yes, we are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team in Gloucester, with hybrid working between home and office. This is a key role in our journey to build technologies across our Bespoke Platform and across the business, and you will be working within our Continuous Improvement Team, and at Programme level, using the Scrum Framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Coding and Development - writing, testing and maintaining high-quality code for all software applications
• Design and Architecture - implementing design plans around Architecture and System Design
• Mentoring - guiding and mentoring junior and mid-Developers helping them to improve their skills and understand best practice
• Code review - reviewing code for accuracy, functionality and adherence to coding standards
• Problem solving - troubleshooting and resolving issues in Production environments
• Continuous Improvement - staying updated on industry best practices to continuously improve the development process
• Build pipelines and mergers - ensuring that all team members' contributions are integrated, maintaining a cohesive and up-to-date delivery lifecycle
• Scrum - Work in the Scrum Framework, and proactively seek new ways of working. Participate in continuous improvement reviews through Sprint retrospectives. Identify and lead opportunities to improve current methods, practices and processes
• Stakeholder Engagement - Working with the Platform Architect, Tech Leads/Delivery Leads, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Testing, DevOps, Infrastructure and the wider Business SMEs
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
• Experience of developing enterprise scale Java applications (Java 11+)
• Ability to write Automated tests
• Understanding of relational databases
• Knowledge of JavaScript Frameworks
• Experience with Git, Git Flow and BitBucket Version Control
• Knowledge of working with Jenkins pipelines
• The ability to engage and co-operate in productive working relationships
• Understanding of software design and software architecture principles
• Working in Jira/Confluence
• Knowledge of SQL/Relational Databases
