Senior Lab Technician

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Quarry Laboratory Technician to join our Northern Industries Team based in Cedar Creek. The successful applicant must have experience and knowledge in construction laboratories and have attained NATA signatory status for test methods. This is a full-time position, and the successful applicant may also be required to work nights, weekends and, on occasion may also have to work away.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

The quarry laboratory operations based at Cedar Creek and possible SEQ mobile sites.
Undertake compliance testing for samples of aggregate, soils, road base, and CTB materials including engaging, training and developing laboratory junior technicians.
Ensuring laboratory and production facility compliance with NATA, and Department of Main Roads Construction Materials Testing Supplier Registration System
Ensuring compliance with all statutory health, safety and environmental requirements
Help design and performance of laboratory mix designs/ blends & quarry R&D to the required specifications.
Direct responsibility for source rock schedules for all materials, and Lot Control / Lot Management
Assist Laboratory Foreman and Lab. Supervisor on day to day running the laboratory as required, ensuring all tests are reported through our reporting tool Qestlab effectively.
Maintaining a high level of internal customer/stakeholder communication and relations.
The successful candidate will require a high level of competence and experience in construction laboratories including, but not limited to:

Maintaining NATA registration for laboratories and production facilities
Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory and production facility calibration requirements
Extensive quarry and soils testing laboratory experience, techniques and accreditation. (Must have Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques), minimum 4 years as Quarry Laboratory Technician.
Providing laboratory and technical support to Lab supervisor, Project Manager(s) and Quarry production as required.
Strong knowledge of Queensland test methods and Australian standards for laboratories
A keen eye for detail
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Questlab.
Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment.
Strong leadership and people skills
Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation, interpretation and delivery of data.
Honest, confident and reliable.
