Position: Senior Lead - Public Policy and Corporate Relations

Reporting into: General Counsel

Business/Function: Legal and S&P

Location: Mumbai

Purpose/Overview of the role:

Reporting to the General Counsel, the incumbent will be responsible for:

• Representing the company in various industry forums of M&E;

• Advocating the interests of the company in industry and other public forums, Government bodies and institutions on legal, quasi-legal and regulatory matters that may have an impact on company;

• Work with the Government bodies and regulators for obtaining various kinds of permissions required in M&E industry;

• Prepare and make filings (online and offline) with regards to point C above; and

• Work with the legal, compliance and standards & practices teams under the General Counsel to analyze the impact of various proposed regulations and laws on SPNI and how to present SPNI’s stance and views in front of the Ministries, Regulators and Government Instrumentalities in the best possible manner. .

Key Result Areas:

Public policy advocacy

• The incumbent should:

A. have a deep understanding of the Indian political landscape and sufficient experience in the M&E industry regulatory aspects;

B. be able to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive successful outcomes;

C. forge good relationships with industry peers;

D. drive successful public affairs campaigns and effectively advocate for policies that are aligned with Company goals and values; and

E. open to lead and manage the procedural aspects of filing and obtaining permissions from various Ministries and Regulators.

Research and Analysis:

• Conducting thorough research on issues in the Media industry and understanding the landscape

• Analysing the potential impact of proposed legislation and providing strategic recommendations.

• Tracking regulatory changes and parliamentary developments that could affect the Media Industry

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including legislators, government officials, advocacy groups, and industry representatives.

• Representing the organisation’s and the Media Industry’s interests in meetings, hearings, and other regulatory proceedings.

• Identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships and alliances to advance the organisation’s priorities.

Strategic Planning and Advocacy:

• Crafting persuasive messaging and advocacy materials to communicate the organisation’s positions effectively.

Campaigns and Public Affairs:

• Developing and executing issue advocacy campaigns to raise awareness and build support for the organisation’s priorities.

• -Organizing events, forums, and other public outreach activities to educate stakeholders and mobilize support, as may be appropriate.

Educational & Work Experiences / Key Requirements:

• A master's degree in public policy or a related field / MBA in Public Policy Management/ Masters in Regulatory Governance

• Working knowledge of the legal aspects and public policy advocacy

• Excellent understanding of the Media industry and market conditions.

At least

• -10 years’ experience, post educational qualification

• Should have worked in a mid to large-sized Corporate (Ideally Media/Telecom)
