About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our specialist Privacy & Data Legal team dedicated to supporting ANZ's privacy, data, AI, cybersecurity, partnerships and intellectual property strategies and objectives globally.
The successful candidate will provide quality, astute and timely legal advice to ANZ clients with a commercial, efficiency and innovative mindset. The advice will relate to a full range of data, privacy, automation, artificial intelligence and innovation matters including, for example:
Privacy compliance
Contract drafting for data sharing with ANZ's partners and Institutional customers
International data sharing
The role involves structuring foundational documentation to mitigate privacy and data risks to ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations and support other lawyers to upskill their knowledge of privacy and data matters in connection with partnerships.
You will experience a variety of challenging work, including cutting edge projects for financial services' partnerships and data-based collaboration. You will frequently partner with other enablement functions including other parts of the Legal Team, Privacy Risk and other risk colleagues, Partnerships, Institutional, Procurement, Compliance, Finance, Technology and Tax to provide privacy and data-related legal advice and negotiate compliant agreements with ANZ's data and innovation partners and customers.
The regulatory environment that ANZ operates in is increasingly complex and you will be involved in regulatory and legislative reform processes including providing legal advice on privacy and data law reforms. You will be involved in supporting enablement functions leading implementation of compliant responses to such new and changing regulations.
You will also need to instruct and manage external law firms who provide additional assistance from time to time.
Requirements:
More than 10 years Post Qualification Experience in privacy and data law
Experience in some, if not all, of the relevant specialties – knowledge of privacy, technology, contracting, intellectual property and data sharing requirements
Excellent time management with a demonstrated track record of managing challenging workloads
Strength as a trusted adviser, capable of initiating, building and maintaining effective relationships across a range of disciplines and situations
A practical, problem solver who can articulate legal risks clearly and concisely
Comfortable with ambiguity in areas of developing law such as privacy and data
