Job Description
This is a unique opportunity to shape the privacy posture of a growing organization from a remote-first perspective. You will be responsible for conducting privacy impact assessments, advising on data processing agreements, managing regulatory inquiries, and training employees on data privacy best practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of international data privacy legal frameworks, a keen analytical mind, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential for working effectively with diverse stakeholders across different time zones
Provide expert legal counsel on all data privacy and protection matters, including compliance with global regulations. Develop, implement, and maintain robust data privacy policies, procedures, and training programs. Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on privacy implications of new products, services, and technologies. Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements (DPAs) and other privacy-related contracts. Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and regulatory inquiries. Lead and coordinate the organization's response to data breaches, ensuring timely notification and remediation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure privacy-by-design principles are integrated into business processes and product development. Stay current with evolving data privacy laws and regulations and advise on their impact on the business. Represent the company in interactions with data protection authorities. Promote a strong privacy-aware culture throughout the organization. Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a reputable institution. Admission to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction. Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, with a significant focus on data privacy and data protection law. In-depth knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other major international privacy frameworks. Experience advising technology companies on privacy matters is highly desirable. Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and advise senior management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experience
working remotely and collaborating effectively in a distributed team environment. CIPP or similar privacy certifications are a plus.
