About the Role
Are you ready to lead initiatives that deliver great user experiences to students, educators, and staff engaging with the library? Swinburne University is seeking a Senior Librarian – User Experience and Innovation to drive forward-thinking initiatives that redefine service delivery, accessibility, inclusivity, and digital engagement across our library network.

In this strategic role, you’ll spearhead innovative solutions that empower users with seamless, anytime access to information—leveraging emerging technologies like generative AI and intelligent bots, as well as identifying process and real-world changes required. You’ll also lead our student placement program, champion Indigenous engagement strategies, and collaborate across teams to deliver meaningful improvements in service delivery.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Demonstrable experience in successfully introducing innovation and efficiencies to library users, in a technology and process context.
Demonstrable experience in the provision of liaison or information management services in a tertiary education library.
Extensive knowledge of user-facing technologies that can support anytime library answers and other user-facing service delivery including emerging technologies such as generative AI and intelligent bots.
Knowledge and experience in applying academic integrity principles to user-facing technology solutions – including consulting and collaborating with key organisational stakeholders for a Swinburne-informed outcome.
Detailed understanding of user needs and expectations of modern libraries – both academic and other library types
An open mindset and respect for Indigenous Knowledges


Qualifications
Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
Extensive experience and management expertise; or
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in librarianship or information management or a related discipline
Eligibility for membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
