Job Description
This position exists to ensure the effective oversight of financial crime risk by contributing to the development and execution of monitoring and oversight processes. This role is integral in supporting Westpac’s Financial Crime risk management framework, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards across our Business & Wealth Pacific business, based out of Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
As a Senior Manager, Finance Crime you will sit within our Second Line of Defence, within Group Risk, ultimately reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Westpac Institutional Bank, Treasury, Business & Wealth (including BT & Pacific). The team is responsible for ensuring financial crime risk remains consistent with risk appetite, fostering a strong risk culture and ensuring adherence to the Westpac Group standards, policies and obligations. You will partner with the business and provide oversight, challenge and specialist financial crime advice on the development, implementation, and maintenance of a robust financial crime framework for our Pacific business.
You will support and oversight the implementation of the Westpac’s Financial Crime Risk framework and co-ordinate the development and execution of oversight plans. You will perform oversight reviews, consult with key stakeholders, and analyse and report on financial crime issue and incident metrics to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Other key responsibilities include:
Proactively challenge and influence to drive high quality solutions & outcomes while remaining customer focussed.
Producing consistent, researched, timely, accurate and well-written advice and reporting.
Identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement and simplification.
Partnering and collaborating to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
Acting as a change agent to drive a culture of proactive compliance and risk management.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have 5+ years of financial crime experience within either banking/consultancy/legal or government. You will have working knowledge of Australian (and international) regulatory environment for AML/CTF, sanctions, tax transparency and anti-bribery risks and regulations. You will have a d emonstrated awareness of AML/CTF challenges, risks, trends and experience in assessing and interpreting complex financial crime risks, strong aptitude for problem solving and risk-based decision making. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
