Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Head Office - Collingwood
Job Category: Banking and Financial Services
Use your commercial banking skills to deliver outcomes that genuinely matter.

At Bank Australia we believe banking should do more than generate returns — it should help create a fairer, more sustainable future. As a customer-owned bank and certified B Corp, we exist to use money as a force for good, balancing strong financial discipline with positive social and environmental impact.

We’re looking for a Senior Manager – Impact & Commercial Lending to join our small, specialist Impact Lending team. This role is suited to an experienced relationship manager who enjoys business development, thrives on structuring complex deals, and wants to apply their skills in a purpose-led environment.

This is not a product-pushing role - it’s about building trusted relationships within our impact focus areas, originating high-quality lending opportunities, and structuring finance that enables projects with real-world impact.

About the team

Our Impact Lending team sits within Bank Australia’s commercial banking function. We work with a diverse range of for‑profit, profit‑for‑purpose and not‑for‑profit organisations delivering outcomes across:

Climate transition and renewable energy
Affordable, inclusive and innovative housing
First Nations‑led enterprises and land activation
Conservation, biodiversity and regenerative land use
Circular economy and social infrastructure
We’re a small, senior team working on mortgage backed, cash flow and property development transactions across the mid-market and corporate lending segments. Our team operates with a high degree of trust, autonomy and accountability. Everyone originates. Everyone structures deals. Everyone contributes to strategy.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager in our Impact Lending team, you’ll be responsible for originating, structuring and executing commercial and impact lending opportunities, with a strong emphasis on proactive business development.

You’ll cultivate relationships with existing and prospective customers, intermediaries, sector partners and co‑funders, and translate those relationships into well‑structured lending proposals aligned with Bank Australia’s risk appetite and impact priorities.

Deals often involve layered capital structures - combining senior debt, subordinated debt, grants, philanthropy or equity - and require thoughtful structuring, strong credit judgement and collaborative execution.

Key Responsibilities

Proactively identify, originate and progress new commercial and impact lending opportunities.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline through active relationship management, networking and sector engagement.
Structure lending solutions tailored to customer needs and impact outcomes, including complex or multi‑layered capital stacks.
Lead deals end‑to‑end: from origination and due diligence through to credit approval, documentation and financial close.
Prepare and present high‑quality credit submissions in collaboration with risk, legal and other internal stakeholders.
Develop deep, long‑term relationships with customers and external stakeholders across priority impact sectors.
Contribute to the evolution of Bank Australia’s impact and commercial lending strategy, including sector focus and product development.
Act as a senior team member, sharing knowledge and supporting capability development within the team.
What You’ll Bring

Extensive experience in commercial, mid‑market or corporate lending, including origination and structuring.
Demonstrated success in business development and relationship management, with the ability to generate and convert new opportunities.
Strong credit analysis, sound risk judgement, and a track record of successful deal execution.
Experience in property, infrastructure, project finance or purpose‑led sectors will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Curiosity about – or commitment to – social and environmental impact, and how finance can enable it.
Excellent communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, and the confidence to operate as a trusted advisor.
Alignment with Bank Australia Limited’s values and customer-owned ethos.
Why Join Us

Be part of a certified B Corp and values-led organisation making a real difference.
Be part of a team where purpose and performance are equally important.
Enjoy flexible work arrangements, competitive salary, and 14% superannuation.
Access progressive wellbeing and leave benefits, including paid parental leave, gender affirmation leave, and bonus annual leave.
Grow your career in a supportive culture that values innovation, inclusion, and impact.
Contribute to the stewardship of our 2,117-hectare conservation reserve on the lands of the Wotjobaluk peoples in Western Victoria.
