Triple Zero Victoria (000VIC) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role
The Senior Manager, Workplace Relations plays a key role in reforming policies and practices as they pertain to Employee Relations (ER) and Workplace Relations (WR) and embedding strong change management and people leader processes to support employee engagement and management of people issues.


This hands-on role has an end-to-end responsibility for ER and WR activity, and the related policy framework. A key focus is the 000VIC establishment of a pro-active risk management approach to Workplace Relations that anticipates the future needs and sustainability of 000VIC and develops and implements effective responses and solutions.


The role requires the development of constructive stakeholder relationships and is accountable for developing employee and workplace relations capability in leaders and managers to enable a more pro-active response to workplace complaints, disputes, and challenges.

Day to day responsibilities include:

Provide advice on strategies and consultation approaches to implement transformational change, including assessment of risk, and facilitate the implementation of such opportunities by effectively managing industrial risk.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and third parties including public sector departments, unions, tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission (FWC) and regulatory bodies such as the Fair Work Ombudsman.
Leads enterprise bargaining activity and negotiations in support of 000VIC strategy, implements outcomes, and ensures effective governance is in place to meet employer obligations.
Provides regular advice to senior management and represents 000VIC in the dispute resolution process with employees and unions. This includes representing 000VIC in industrial tribunals and providing expert advocacy skills as required.
Develops and maintains close working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure awareness of emerging industrial issues and effective responses are planned.
About You
The preferred candidate will hold expert knowledge of industrial and employee relations principles, obligations, policies and practice, additional to the following skills and attributes:

Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a long-term strategic Workplace Relations agenda that delivers high performance and effective change, including manager education.
Experience working in a fast paced and highly unionised environment with the ability to manage multiple complex matters in a public sector context.
Experience leading complex EBA negotiations, and detailed knowledge of industrial frameworks including awards, agreements, and the role of the FWC.
A proven track record in developing and managing, case, fitness for work, complaint and grievance processes that support the achievement of a constructive culture.
Sound ability to resolve disputes and conflict situations in a considered and constructive manner.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in providing high level written and oral advice to Executive teams.
Extensive experience in negotiation, industrial advocacy, mediation, and conciliation.
