The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team at Exide Energy is looking for a highly-motivated Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and ramp of cell manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting-edge Exide Energy Batteries. The Battery is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured at Exide. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Exides world class manufacturing facilities at Bangalore.

In addition to developing working on ramping the line the Manufacturing Engineer works with cross-functional teams to test, validate, and roll-out equipment to production. Responsibilities:

For defined equipment or set of equipment for lithium-ion cell and pack manufacturing. Could be in the area of Electrode making (weighing, batching, feeding & mixing), Assembly Line, Formation, Automated material handling and storage/retrieval systems.
Lead interaction with technology provider ME team for understanding the equipment infrastructure requirement and equipment specification.
Understand critical process controls requirements and ensure these are available on the equipment being planned and captured in the equipment specifications.
Lead interaction with project facilities team for providing input related to the equipment facility, power, air, effluent discharge, environment conditions like temperature, cleanliness, humidity requirements and coordinate to ensure facilities are built for these. Interaction with project facilities team for plant design finalization and equipment layout.
Creating RFPs for equipment, conduct technical discussion with suppliers for technical finalization of equipment meeting RFP requirements. Technical evaluation and comparison of offers received and make technical recommendation.
Provide technical annexure for PO and ensure release of PO for equipment to meet the project timelines. After ordering ensure project time-plan submission from the vendor in line with overall project plan.
Interact continuously with vendor to track that actual progress is in line with submitted plan. During tracking of progress lead the following activities.
Get utilities requirement, consignment size, manpower requirement for installation & commissioning, spares list and other details from vendor for planning our site activities.
Participate and contribute in design reviews and approve finalized design for manufacturing.
Track manufacturing progress against plan and coordinate requirements for FAT, participate in FAT and validate equipment in FAT.
Coordinate with vendor and technology provider to ensure planning of vendor manpower for installation, commissioning & training at our site location, coordinate to ensure availability as required.
Coordinate with vendor and technology provider to ensure installation, commissioning manpower training and equipment stabilization as per plan. Participate in SAT and validate equipment after SAT.

Post Equipment Commissioning & Stabilization, work on the following:
Drive ramp of exciting new line by characterizing baseline performance and capability of each system and drive actions to maintain or improve performance as measured by product quality and tool availability.
Analyze production to increase manufacturing uptime, availability and reliability metrics yield, OEE, cycle time, quality and investigate bottlenecks to identify root cause and countermeasure to maximize throughput.
Drive root cause analysis through process and equipment expertise, correlate with upstream/downstream processes.
Troubleshoot and recover processes by PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes/improvements.
Ensure manufacturing lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics OEE, cycle time, quality and first time through.
Actively use tool data sources (e.g. MES reports) to quantitatively evaluate and track tool performance and create programs to improve relevant metrics.
Work independently and with vendors to understand root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications.
Develop and deliver training to operations and maintenance technicians to ensure and seamless handover of new equipment.
Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart.
Own individual work stations, tools, or production lines.

Requirements:
Either a BS with 6+ years relevant experience or an MS with 3+ years relevant experience in interdisciplinary/integrated engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
Strong engineering foundations. Aptitude to learn
Demonstrated experience ramping equipment into manufacturing - mixing or powder convey equipment, large continuous or batch processes, food or chemical powders, large liquid process plants, assembly lines.
Demonstrated experienced solving complex process or equipment problems with limited documentation to debug issues, build process know-how, and kick off improvement projects.
History of strong timeline and milestone planning and management.
Structured thinking and problem solving abilities. Proven through a number of root cause analysis following a data driven approach, statistical software (JMP) a plus.
2D ACAD experience in creating/validating layouts, tooling drawings, Pneumatic and electrical schematics.
Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is highly desired
Experience with: Process Engineer, Powder handling, process design, Process Technologist, Powder conveyance, ATEX, CE, Process automation, Cathode and anode powder, Battery powder, battery ingredients would be beneficial,
