Job overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Manufacturing Engineer team, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between product design and production to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacture of Sunswap TRUs. Your responsibilities include ongoing process enhancements, leading quality investigations, and applying manufacturing engineering methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Refine product designs and processes for optimal manufacturability and assembly.

• Develop, manage, and maintain technical documentation like Manufacturing Bills of Materials, PFMEA, control plans and Work Instructions.

• Owning all aspects of PFMEA

• activities.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of new designs into the manufacturing process.

• Utilise CAD software to create detailed tooling and assembly fixtures that adhere to manufacturing capabilities.

• Support the assembly of the prototype products.

• Designing and delivering entire or partial production lines and processes.

• Partnering with the Production team to ensure a successful ramp and long-term production at our facilities

Qualifications & experience

• A degree in mechanical, automotive, aerospace engineering or equivalent industry experience.

• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering roles, with a focus on process development, problem solving and optimisation.

• Experience with various manufacturing processes and components (e.g. casting, machining, moulding, assembly, fabrications) and measurement techniques.

• Proven experience having delivered mechanical systems from concept to production.

• Excellent CAD skills – including part design, electrical integration, sheet metal design, fixtures and engineering drawings.

• An awareness of good engineering practices and analysis methods.

• Experience in automotive / transport / motorsport / electrical systems, complying with industry standards, safety processes and certification.

• A strong understanding of assembly processes, production methods and an ability to assess the manufacturability of parts.

• Manufacturing support within a mid to low volume assembly environment.

• Demonstrated ability to optimise existing processes for rate, yield, availability.

• Detailed knowledge of manufacturing and processing principles.
