We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Materials Controller to work at our Doncaster site.
Main Purpose of the Role
To manage and lead a team of material controllers ensuring through proactive management that the highest level of services is delivered to both internal and external customers and alongside reviewing all current processes to bring on board new efficiencies and continuous improvements. Via the team provide a level of support to build morale on a daily basis making sure all the relevant supply chain are maximized to ensure availability of materials for the customer base and facilitating escalations where applicable.

Each project/piece of work may require different levels of application/resolution depending on the nature of the issue. Must use initiative & analytical skills to make correct judgement.
Qualifications & Education
GCSE Qualifications – English & Maths.
“A” Level education or above would be desirable – due to the complexity of some of the duties required within the role.
Experience & Proven Ability Required
3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the Rail industry would be a preference – Good understanding of the principles of the role & the desired outputs.
Capable in the use of data analysis tools such as SQL and Advanced Excel
SAP Procurement Process knowledge or experience and understanding of planning with an ERP/MRP system.
Good interpersonal skills – with the confidence and capability to present to working groups
Time management and work load prioritisation skills.
Self motivated to achieve targets and goals in order to achieve departmental and company objectives.
Application of the highest ethical standards in all dealings and transactions
Understand / analyse and take ownership of problems and initiate solutions
Duties & Key Responsibilities
Manage an agreed portfolio of key suppliers and products to Unipart.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders drive improvements through regular meetings.
Manage and report on KPI’s for portfolio on supplier performance
Own day to day relationship with key suppliers and drive improved performance
Develop internal working processes to reduce waste and achieve process improvements.
In addition to the above, you will be actively involved in assisting in the management of and driving through of a number of strategic projects and initiatives to support the Unipart Way.
As part of the Materials Controller Team positively contribute to achieving the business targets.
Manage the team on a day to day basis providing a good level of support and guidance.
Any other duties which the business seems appropriate aligned to this role.
Advocate of the Unipart Way and Tools used to deliver CI of processes and systems
Act as intermediary between the MRP team and wider CI team to drive improvement across our key processes.
