Senior Materials Engineer – Materials Science & Technology

The Senior Engineer will be part of Innovation Engineering CoE at Bangalore, working in Materials & Process Engineering department on Turbomachinery products and services. The Senior Engineer is required to take full ownership of all associated activities with the roles & responsibilities outlined below with best-in-class delivery.
As Senior Materials Engineer – Materials Science & Technology, you will be responsible for:
• Reviewing vendors’ special process procedures and perform technical evaluation to ensure the quality of the products meet the respective global standards such as ASTM, ASME etc., and BH internal standards.
• Reviewing Global Repair documents to ensure the quality standards stipulated by the specific component and process specifications. Recommend the best repair process flow sequence of the components that can increase productivity during repair cycle.
• Material Analysis and Testing of various components as per the quality standards and specifications.
• Working with multidisciplinary teams and vendors related to lab operations that include equipment related issues solving, consumable sourcing, calibrations & HSE activities.
• Actively participate in HSE lab audits and work on providing safe working lab place and environment based on audit findings.
• Actively participate in Lab Equipment Management of Change (MOC) processes for new equipment installation and commissioning activities working with HSE and Facilities teams.
• Performing metallographic sample preparation including cutting, mounting, grinding/polishing and chemical etching.
• Performing material analysis including microscopy with image analysis, hardness, and surface roughness measurements.
• Performing material heat treatments as per the International and BH specifications.
• Creating and maintaining Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Risk Analysis for the lab processes.

To be successful in this role you will:
• Have a minimum of bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science from an accredited college or university with minimum 8 years of work experience on specified roles and responsibilities.
• Have an experience or certification in NDE is preferred.
• Have an in depth understanding within metallurgical, materials and processes such as thermal spray coatings, castings, forming, forging, heat treatment, etc.
• Have an in depth understanding of metallographic techniques, microscopy, mechanical testing. Experience in Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)-Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) is preferred.
• Have a familiarity with relevant industry standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM etc.).
• Have a familiarity with ISO 17025/ NABL accreditation for the Metallurgical and Mechanical Lab Certification.
• Have an experience on MS office tools and ability to self-learn/ work on OEM software’s like Image analysis, equipment connected software
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Have an ability to cooperate and interface effectively with all levels of a matrix environment
• Have a strong customer mind-set and flexible, proactive, results, self-motivated and have an ability to work independently and in teams
