This is what you'll be doing:
In addition to MLT tasks, the incumbent will assist with workflow in the Microbiology
Provides strong Technical support, consultation, and interpretation in all aspects of departmental testing. Ensure changes to processes and/or methods are communicated to staff.
Coordinates troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment.
Investigation, development, recommendation, installation and training associated with new methods and new technology.
Assists in the follow-up of non-conformities as required
Development, updating and reviewing of the technical manuals
Responsible for assisting with inventory control and management of supplies as it pertains to Microbiology and other areas of the laboratory if required.
Incumbent is required to be an active member of the scheduling team and assist with payroll as required
Monitors procedures and consults with the MDH and GH site to ensure consistency across all sites
Strong knowledge of Microbiology accreditation requirements
Participates actively in continuing education and applies knowledge where applicable
Maintains adequate knowledge of Microbiology equipment and reporting
Data retrieval and analysis pertaining to workload
Participates in and submits reports to established quality assurance programs
Participation in regional Microbiology working groups
Reports all issues and process gaps to Laboratory Manager and offers constructive solutions
Maintains current knowledge of professional standards, legislation, accreditation requirements and established health and safety guidelines.
Other duties as required by the laboratory management team
Qualifications
Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
Recent experience of 5 years in a Microbiology environment,
Experience with routine Microbiology automated instrumentation and troubleshooting
Demonstrated knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance procedures and Quality Control.
Solution oriented
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Must be physically able to do the job
Excellent employment and attendance record
Additional Information
Status: Temporary full-time (Approx. 6 month)
Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 8 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $42.250 to $53.280 per hour
