Job Description
Position Summary
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our CDN infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal network performance, security, and scalability. This position requires a deep understanding of network protocols, CDN technologies, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position reports to the Director of Network Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage robust network infrastructures to support our CDN services.
Optimize network performance and reliability by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting network issues.
Collaborate with software development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of network solutions.
Lead network architecture design and review sessions, providing expert insights and recommendations.
Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including design diagrams, configuration details, and operational procedures.
Conduct regular security assessments and implement measures to safeguard network infrastructure against potential threats.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in CDN and networking technologies, recommending innovative solutions to enhance our service offerings.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network incidents promptly to minimize service disruptions.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on large-scale CDN or ISP environments.
Strong expertise in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP), routing, and switching.
Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, etc.
Ability to turn up BGP with transits and public/IX peers
Understanding of OSI layers 1 through 3
Experience configuring and troubleshooting ECMP and LACP
Management of data center cross connects
Experience with Ansible / BGP Anycast / BGP communities and traffic engineering / Kentik or netflow/sflow and Linux scripting
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven track record of leading network projects and delivering high-quality results.
