About the Role - Korero mo te Turanga
We are looking for two Senior Policy Analysts who will lead and support regulatory and operational policy work that strengthens the integrity of Aotearoa's forestry system. This includes shaping advice, analysing impacts, working across agencies, and supporting effective implementation of forestry and environmental settings. Our team sits within the Forestry System directorate of MPI's Te Uru Rakau - New Zealand Forest Service branch.
Key responsibilities:
Lead regulatory and operational policy advice
Analyse environmental, economic, and social impacts
Support development of regulations, standards, and guidance
Build relationships with stakeholders and Treaty Partners
Prepare briefings, Cabinet papers, and technical advice
Contribute to cross agency programmes and projects

What you'll bring
Tertiary qualification in economics, law, resource management, forestry, or similar
Experience working in policy or operational policy environments

About the Team - Mo to matou Ropu
You'll join the Operational Policy - Forestry and Resource Management team within Te Uru Rakau - New Zealand Forest Service. The team works collaboratively across MPI and with external partners to design and implement effective regulatory and operational policy for the forestry sector. The mahi directly supports MPI's strategic outcomes of sustainability, protection, and prosperity for Aotearoa's primary industries.
