Job Description
An exciting part-time vacancy has become available which involves working within extended roles including the medical retina, injection and glaucoma clinics at Whipps Cross site with potential core optometry sessions. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Optometrist to join our teams with special interest and experience in medical retina and glaucoma.
The post-holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary Optometry and Ophthalmology teams that provide comprehensive and quality ophthalmology services for the Trust.
You will be based in the Eye Treatment Centre at Whipps Cross University Hospital with some potential sessions may be based at Newham General University Hospital. Preferred working days would be Tuesdays and Fridays but there may be some flexibility.The Eye Treatment Centre is a dedicated unit covering all ophthalmology specialties including vitreo-retinal, medical retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculo-plastics, paediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology and we also have a busy eye emergency service.
• To participate in the delivery of the ophthalmology service in the areas of Medical Retina and injection services
• To participate in glaucoma clinics as well as glaucoma virtual clinics
• To participate in cataract and post op cataract clinics as well as virtual clinics
• To participate in core optometry clinics
• To participate in the delivery of highly specialist ophthalmic services and extended roles that meet the changing needs of the department
• To participate in research and clinical audit as required by the WXUH Ophthalmology service
• The post-holder will be required to work autonomously and make clinical decisions using his/her own initiative as well as liaising with the Supervising Consultant Ophthalmologist/s
