What you'll be getting up to:
• Enforces database best practices and follows up on inconsistencies.
• Performs routine reviews of databases and systems to ensure acceptable levels of performance.
• Reports problem performance areas and recommendations for improvement.
• Anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for Development, Testing, Perf, Staging, and Production for scalable database growth and performance.
• Follows up on recommendations and actively pushes for implementation as appropriate.
• Understands and applies database concepts such as database definitions, parameters, database component placement, reorganisation, access methods and security definitions.
• Complete tasks & deliver projects on-time and to the highest standards.
• Understand all technologies used in the team and be able to assist where needed.
• Critically analyse incidents affecting the databases, in order to decide where and what improvements are needed.
• Test backup and recovery scenarios, formulate disaster recovery procedures
• Be able to install, maintain, support/troubleshoot predominantly Oracle products and help our business make best use of the technology.
• Troubleshoot and suggest solutions for database application issues across production, test and development environments.
• Provide input into architecture and design.
• Configure and install from scratch Oracle database servers in nominal to complex configurations.
Required General Skills And Experience
• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Be flexible to support the database systems outside of working hours during major sport events (in ROTA with his peers and team mates).
• Work according to Agile development team (Scrum) practices.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing and fast-integrating business environment.
• Bachelor 's degree.
Required Tech Skills And Experience
• 3+ years of experience focused on Oracle DBA administration in medium to large corporate environments.
• Proven experience of Oracle 1+c, RAC 1+c, ASM 1+c, RMAN 1+c, DataGuard 1+c.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL and SQL Tuning being able to provide advice and support to development teams.
• Proactively monitor and optimize Oracle databases including running applications for better performance.
• Being able to verify/tune stored procedures and triggers Experience with DB utilities such as exp, IMP, SQL loader, expdp, impdp.
• Experience on Exadata Database Systems and knowledge of key Exadata architecture.
• Good Knowledge on OEM Cloud Control and EM Express.
• Solid knowledge of Linux OS and shell scripting.
