About the Role

Step into a rewarding role where youll be central to patient care within cancer care pharmacy team. As a Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will:

Provide expert clinical pharmacy services for complex oncology and haematology patients
Collaborate closely with New Zealands leading oncologist, haematologists, specialist nurses, and researchers, embedding your pharmaceutical expertise within the multidisciplinary team
Champion medication safety by clinically screening chemotherapy prescriptions and complex supportive care regimens, liaising with specialist clinicians to ensure optimal, safe, and cost-effective treatments
Drive best practice by developing and refining protocols, treatment guidelines, and chemotherapy prescriptions
Mentor and educate pharmacist colleagues, and the wider multidisciplinary team, sharing your specialist knowledge
Contribute to service evolution: Play an active role in exciting upcoming developments within the Cancer and Blood service, helping shape future service delivery and expanding your input into Outpatient Cancer Services as you grow in the role

About the Service

Our Pharmacy department is an innovative and exciting place to work. We employ over 120 staff including those working within two retail pharmacies and a flagship inpatient service. We serve over 1200 inpatient beds. Our guiding principle is to put the patient first in everything we do. Our award winning and growing clinical pharmacy service has over 40 pharmacists working across both secondary and tertiary level services.

We have a robust service strategy, which ensures that our staff are continuingly driving to work at the top of their scope and pushing the boundaries of clinical pharmacy practice. We are committed to do and be our best, to value and support all staff, to work together with trust, respect and honesty, and display commitment and accountability to provide a high quality service to our patients.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and patient-focused clinical pharmacist eager to advance their skills in a specialised setting. You demonstrate initiative, possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and align with the Te Toka Tumai values.

Essential:

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent qualification recognised in New Zealand
Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand (or eligibility for registration)
Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (or be able to obtain one)
Strong clinical pharmacy foundation, typically gained through at least 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
Excellent communication, time management, and relationship-building skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute hospital environment and work effectively both autonomously and within a team
Commitment to working effectively in a bicultural environment and upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Desirable (but not essential we encourage applicants willing to upskill!):

Recent experience in haematology and/or oncology pharmacy practice.
Postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualifications (e.g., Diploma, Masters).
