About the Role

As a Senior Pharmacist in this specialised team, you will:

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients.
Optimise medicines management and promote the safe, rational use of pharmaceuticals.
Participate in aseptic compounding and cytotoxic preparation services.
Provide specialist advice and education to pharmacists, prescribers, and wider clinical staff.
Support and mentor less experienced pharmacists and technicians, helping grow capability across the department.
Contribute to the review and implementation of the Hospital Medicines List and drug utilisation programmes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, research and service development work.
Collaborate across pharmacy and clinical teams to support timely medicine access for patients.
Contributing to regional SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy).

About you

You will be a confident, collaborative and self-driven pharmacist who demonstrates strong clinical judgement, resilience and a commitment to equity.


Essential requirements

Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.
Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent recognised in NZ).
Minimum 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience with additional relevant experience.
Strong understanding of PHARMAC rules, hospital pharmacy operations, and medicines management.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving health outcomes for Māori.
Ability to undertake in-patient dispensary shifts as required and participate in the on-call roster.

Desired

Postgraduate qualification (completed or in progress) in clinical pharmacy or a related area.
First Aid Certificate.
Experience in project work, quality improvement, or clinical education.
Strong capability in evaluating and applying medical and pharmacy literature.
