We’re looking for a Senior Political Correspondent, for a fixed-term period, to take charge of Stuff.co.nz and ThreeNews’ political coverage, delivering sharp analysis, exclusive stories, and must-read content that keeps our audience informed and engaged.
What You’ll Do
Spearhead our political division, working closely with senior editorial leaders to define priorities and break impactful stories.
Create compelling news, analysis, and commentary that informs and sparks debate.
Drive digital storytelling, using audio, video, and social media to reach and engage our audience.
Host and produce political coverage across multiple formats, from breaking news specials to in-depth investigations.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team, ensuring excellence in reporting and content delivery.
Collaborate across the newsroom to maximise audience engagement and expand our reach.
What You’ll Bring
A proven track record in political journalism with exceptional news judgement.
Experience covering politics at a senior level, ideally with time spent in the Parliamentary Press Gallery.
Strong broadcasting skills, confident in hosting and presenting across platforms.
A sharp eye for exclusives and the ability to break agenda-setting stories.
Expertise in digital content creation, including video and audio production.
Deep knowledge of media law, editorial ethics, and industry trends.
A natural leader who thrives on collaboration and mentoring.
