BU Description
As a Sr PostgreSQL DBA you will be joining a world-class team of BMC Software and focusing on; day-to-day production operational tasks, database administration, architecture, and automation of database services & solutions.
The product line includes BMC’s industry-leading Digital Services and Operation Management products. We have many interesting SaaS products, in the fields of: Predictive IT service management, Automatic discovery of inventories, intelligent operations management, and more!
Responsibilities
• Solid experience in Oracle DBA will be a significant differentiator.
• Experience configuring & implementing Oracle 12c and 1+c
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), including cloud DB technologies (RDS, Aurora)
• Experience with Patroni high availability
• Linux command-line operating system experience (Centos/RHEL 7/8 preferred), Linux software install and configuration
• Scripting and task automation (Bash, Python, Git)
• Networking as related to database (Linux iptables, DNS, load balancers)
Experience & Skills
• 5+ years of experience in PostgreSQL support work and Postgres PL/PGSQL. Experience on Postgres versions, 12+, 13, 14
• Strong backup and restore (pg_dump, physical backup tools), database performance tuning experience
• Strong SQL Query tuning and development, troubleshooting skills experience
• Replication and failover experience in User and object permission management
• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field with 8 years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in database administration
