Job Description
The Finance & Tax technology team is responsible for the development, support, and maintenance of the company's Statutory, Regulatory and Management reporting applications, associated processes and technology.

We are looking for a senior specialist who can use their experience and knowledge to deliver key strategic BI reporting projects and ongoing operational support to internal clients.
Engaging closely with Finance teams and other business stakeholders to deliver solutions, you would work alongside the Specialist Bank Finance Technology team in maximizing the value that Finance can get from its data. Having a Finance background or qualification would be highly advantageous for this role.
Investec is going through a transformational change from using on premise database and applications to using cloud-based Analytics technologies and the Azure platform. The ideal candidate will support and guide the team through this technological change.

Deliver technical and analytical expertise to support a data-driven culture within the Specialist Bank
Engage with the Finance business enabling teams to understand their reporting and analytics requirements
Manage stakeholder expectations with clear and frequent lines of communication & continuous report refinement
Follow change control processes to deploy and update outputs into production
Taking ownership of the Finance Power BI estate, you would be promoting and enhancing the current estate in order to enable the effective and robust delivery of key Finance BI projects following best practice principals.
You will be an ambassador for promoting the use of Power BI within Finance and will be confident working with people at all levels in the organization.
Full and active participation in Group wide strategic projects for data, cloud and BI.

Core skills and knowledge:

Technical knowledge
High proficiency with Power BI - data visualisation, models, measures, reports, dashboards and apps and the appropriate use of DAX, M-Code
SQL, SSIS
Python (and R)
Experience with Microsoft Azure and Cloud-based Microsoft tools for Analytics e.g., Data bricks, Data factory, Synapse analytics, and Analysis services etc
Familiarity with Finance related datasets, such as: General ledger data, multi-dimensional master data, Business Planning and Reporting systems (e.g Hyperion)
Skills
Exceptionally numerate and able to interpret information, spot trends and tell a story with data
Experience of delivering complex BI projects end to end – requirements definition and specifications through to development and final project delivery
Quickly distil stakeholder requirements into succinct questions and then answer them in a timely, easily digestible way to drive action and the growth of the Bank.
Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and influencing skills, adapting language and approach to the audience.
Project Management: ability to self-manage research, design, prioritise, implement, and deliver projects in a time-efficient manner.
Willingness to learn and ability to pick up new skills and technologies quickly.
Ability to design engaging and interactive outputs around data.
Market Knowledge: sound awareness of the market/economic landscape and knowledge of how the business functions.
Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role:

Experience in the Financial Services industry and working with the underlying Finance, Banking systems and databases.
Finance background or qualification highly advantageous.
Working knowledge of Oracle Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Planning, EPMWare, JD Edwards an advantage
