Responsibilities
Responsible for architecting, designing and developing highly available, scalable, performant, reliable & secure software systems
Own/lead medical device software architecture, and technology strategy and roadmap for every product line (based on product roadmap, technology roadmap, obsolescence issues, technical debt and customer issues)
Collaborate with Systems and Product Owner in defining functional and non-functional requirements and transform them into software architecture and design to guide the development team in implementation.
Demonstrate "first time right" culture by fully adhering to engineering practices by self and ensuring the same by team members.
Be the technical voice of the project and drives technical decision for software sub-systems and owns the technical delivery.
Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with architecture and design and provide technical guidance and coaching to engineering team.
Applies diligence in determining the best solution(s) for complex technical issues.
Own architectural and technical runway/POCs. Progressively manage/mitigate technical risks.
Own architecture documentation, High level design, software hazard analysis, FMEA, SOUP analysis, cybersecurity, software maintenance and configuration strategy.
Ensures quality compliance in responsible subsystems/products. Guides respective team members in learning and implementation of the quality aspects by understanding & adherence to Baxter Quality, SDLC & PDLM processes.
Owns issues reported through customer complaints to roll out corrective actions in a timely manner and identify preventive actions.
Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards within area of responsibility/expertise.
Qualifications
Bachelor/Master of Engineering in the field of Computer Science
Overall, 14+ years of experience in product development or related field with minimum 5+ years as a software architect.
Strong knowledge of Standard Software Architectural methodologies and best practices.
Knowledge of software design patterns and practical applications
Good influencing skills in a global matrix organization working with multiple stakeholders achieving product objectives by driving technology solutions, roadmap and effective decision making.
Membership and/or certification in a professional organization a plus (e.g., IEEE, IASA, iSAQB etc).
Medical Device Regulatory Standards awareness - 21 CFR Part 820, IEC 62304, ISO 13485.
Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need a system thinking, customer-centric approach and the following:
Experience and strong working with device software technologies such as C++, Qt/QML, Linux, MVP/MVC, OOAD/UML design tools, DevOps tool chain and device connectivity domain will be an added advantage.
Strong abstraction, analytical and critical thinking skills
Working experience in Agile/SAFe development methodologies
Effective communication and presentation skills
Ability to take ownership of team goals and deliver with quality and within required timeline
Ability to innovate and foster innovation
