Senior Project Manager

💰 $3,800 - $6,080 (Est.) 📍 Queenstown 🕐 8 days ago

Job Description

Full job description
Lead key local infrastructure projects

Become a core member of a growing team

Relocation support available, early 2026 start

Our Queenstown based team have strong personal and project connections in the local community and across the deep south. We’ve delivered several cornerstone projects in the region, and we’re busy right now on a range of vertical and horizontal work, including some once in a generation infrastructure upgrade projects.

The team is growing, and we’re now looking for an experienced Senior PM to take charge of some exciting 3 Waters and infrastructure resilience projects in the Central Otago and Southland regions. You’ll be involved in all stages of these projects from feasibility through to handover, so you’ll be a technically strong project leader, who’s happy to roll up your sleeves and be involved in the day-to-day project delivery including the essentials like issuing CI’s, attending meetings and reporting to the client.

You’ll be part of a small local team with the backing of a much larger national business, where we put a strong emphasis on looking after our people and helping grow their careers. This is a unique opportunity to continue your professional career, whilst living in one the world’s most spectacular outdoor destinations.

You Matter @ TBIG

You really do! We want you to enjoy your working day and the teams around you. We want to put opportunities in your way, not roadblocks, and we’ll show we trust and support your instincts to lead projects and collaborate.

You’ll get a great salary package but there’s more to a rewarding job than that. This is a rare opportunity for a professional services job in Queenstown. The big things include a longer-term chance at becoming one of our employee shareholders, our support of flexible working, and we will continue your professional journey with networking, industry memberships and training opportunities.
We’ll help with some of the smaller things too – like fun social events with your colleagues, and company health and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. Fancy learning basic Te Reo or upskilling around Te Tiriti o Waitangi? We give you access and time to grow personally as well as professionally. Queenstown is an incredibly appealing place to work and play, and we encourage our team to have a balance of both.

The Role

As senior eyes and ears on our projects, you’ll be providing project leadership and direction, acting as a trusted advisor to your clients, and working closely with your team, empowering the next generation of PM talent.

We’re looking for proven experience on projects with complex stakeholder management requirements to be part of our team, leading through all stages of some significant projects.

Here’s what we need from you: ·

Prove to us you’ve ‘got this’ as the safe pair of hands for owning project outcomes.

A professional attitude that wins the respect of clients.

You are a trusted advisor to your clients - they have your ear at all times.

A willingness to lead by example, so the next generation of project managers learn from you.

An understanding of the power of a good team culture and how to support that

A current driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites locally and in the southern region

Your experience needs to include:

8+ years’ post grad project/construction management experience, which must include some experience in the role of consultant Project Manager. We need you to understand infrastructure projects, but more importantly we need you to be an experienced PM delivering these projects as our client’s representative.

Relevant qualifications in a STEM discipline such as Civil Engineering, or Construction PM.

You’ll bring a range of project experience with you, which will include civil infrastructure project delivery through all stages, in particular, delivery of 3 Waters assets. Additional experience in delivering building projects is a bonus.

Strong leadership coordinating design and technical teams including management of multiple project stakeholders and management of the project consenting process.

The proven ability to challenge concepts, resolve problems and provide solutions

Detailed knowledge and the preparation of robust contract documents, correspondence and reporting. Demonstrable experience with NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts acting as Engineer’s Representative or Contract Administrator.

Strong understanding of relevant New Zealand building regulations and legislation, and a strong focus on health and safety

End to end ownership, the project’s not done until you’re satisfied and proud of your client’s feedback

You will have googled us by now:

And here’s what you will have found … The Building Intelligence Group (most people call us TBIG) is 100% New Zealand owned by over a quarter of our people. Our vision is to be the best and most trusted project specialists in Aotearoa. We’re right across Aotearoa, 14 locations put us in more places than any other PM company, giving you room to grow as your life changes.

Our people deliver great projects – it’s what we’ve done for over 35 years. In short, you’ll work on interesting projects, you’ll feel valued and backed, and the doors are open to promotion.

Go on – if you’ve read this far and you’re excited, take the next steps…
