Your Role
The primary purpose of this role is to execute the development and accomplishment of goals establish for profit, growth, service, and producer relations for all classes of business within the Major Accounts Division for the northern/southern region, while also contributing as a senior technical underwriter with respect to Property products. This role extends to fostering relationships with major customers and brokers by demonstrating Chubb’s commitment to deploy its global coverage and risk management capabilities to meet the specialized needs of major customers.
Your Responsibilities:
Underwriting Process / Analysis
Assist in the positioning and negotiations associated with delivering profitable
transactions to achieve financial plans for all applicable product lines in the Major Accounts Division.
Writing a MD/BI portfolio in accordance with Chubb underwriting strategy
Select new risks and underwrites renewals for assigned book of business and/or
for designated speciality classes or market segments within Property portfolio.
Consults with LOB product managers on risks exceeding delegated authority.
Provide technical leadership for underwriting/marketing in the LOB product or MAD including risk referrals and portfolio management; serves as a resource
regarding unique coverage needs
Consult with State Distribution Manager on retention and prospecting activity
Provide expertise in specialty line of business to major customers, brokers and
MAD team
Maintain a high level of understanding of pricing individual risk exposures
Assist others in the development of pricing strategies, renewal negotiation strategy and developing game plans on new business submissions.
Production / Relationship Management
Identify, analyse and develop sources of desirable new business opportunities including cross-departmental opportunities.
Cultivate “zero relationship” prospects and “one-line” accounts into future Chubb clients.
Crafting, delivering and negotiating quotations
Actively participate in business development activities through regular team
meetings.
Build and maintain long term relationships with key producers and insureds; deals with producer principals on complex underwriting issues.
Reviews performance reports, enforce accounts, and makes quality-control recommendations.
Visits producers and insureds alone and with senior staff in order to communicate Chubb philosophy and increase market share.
Increase producers and insureds awareness of appetite, products and advantages through product presentations.
Participates in joint travel with members of MAD and in department presentations to prospective insureds and producers.
Establishes and maintains travel program with other MAD team members.
Identify and shares information with MAD and broader Chubb personnel regarding competitors’ products and underwriting.
Provide expertise on accessing opportunities for growth.
5 years’ experience in a property or Package Underwriting and development role with an insurance company
High degree of technical underwriting ability; oral and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills;
Ability to effectively interact with brokerage, customer and internal stakeholders at all levels.
Develop creative solutions to unique underwriting situations through making recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting policies.
Understand advanced pricing techniques (retro rating, composition of experience mod, etc.), when to use, how to use, how to sell, etc.
Be familiar with developing marketing plans and handling complex accounts.
Understand the underwriting appetites of the other departments and how those relate to interdepartmental accounts.
Track record of high achievement in a team-based and results-oriented culture.
Familiar with the products / services of key competitors.
Have experience in the interpretation and analysis of claims and appropriate deployment of loss control resources.
Strong communication skills: To assure healthy exchange of information & impediments
Proven ability to seek out new distribution sources
Possess or quickly obtain knowledge of Chubb’s global capabilities and financials and ability to communicate that information to existing or new customers at all levels.
Working knowledge of Microsoft systems including Excel Word and PowerPoint.
